Being a part of the OSS family has been life changing for me… through kindergarten, all the way to my last year here, I have been supported through my struggles by friends, teachers, and staff alike. I see the value of experiential learning, and high parental involvement, because it provides you with the ability to grow and thrive in a place where you feel supported by your teachers and friends, and find curiosity and inspiration in new and interesting experiences from field trips, older grades, and school wide traditions such as Oceans 411, or Wing Ding. Because of this experience, I want to go on to be a passionate activist and leader for growth and development. Ocean Shore has paved the way for me to find hope and justice…

I learned a lot with my friends, they let you do group projects and specifically Oceans 411. You can group up with your friends and teach, younger kids the things that you know. And it’s just everyone gets a good learning experience out of here.

Ocean Shore has become my family, my absolute favorite place to be. I love to spend my days off of work here. I love the community, I love the families, I love the kids, I love the teachers. My kids love coming to school. They are just delighted to come to school. They come home and say they have so much fun and we’ve just had the best time here. I would highly recommend the family of Ocean Shore. You will be welcomed with open arms and instantly become part of a community of loving, caring families.

All In

I had never seen a school like this before… Kids walked around school with dozens of parents greeting them in the halls by first names both student and teachers. Literally the magic brought me to tears that me and my children could be a part of this!

…even though they are Kinder teachers and 8th grade teachers they collaborate to teach, both grades together. It shows the kinders that the oldest kids in the school are kind, gentle and will help you pick books from the library, read to you, and say hi to you on the play yard. That is a priceless gift.

The kindness, patience and compassion we have just taught both kinder and 8th graders didn’t start with us teaching our 8th graders to be kind humans. It came from 7 years prior when they were a little impressionable kinder who had an 8th grade buddy who was kind, gentle and patient and they said, I can’t wait till I’m a big kid like that. And I can’t wait be that for another student one day. They don’t know it at the time. But 7 years of that example set by the parents, teachers and peers. That is just who they become.

Middle school kids, they become the teachers. They go to the beach, every class goes to the beach. They run the educational activities there and educational activities in the classroom.
