Friday, March 19, 2021 Quote of the week: "If everyone is moving forward together, then success will take care of itself."--Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company Dear Ocean Shore Families, I'm thrilled to officially announce that all continuum students will be returning to school the week of April 19th! I know the hybrid model is not ideal, not by a long shot. I've heard from parents who are excited, parents who are apprehensive, parents who want to switch from full year distance learning to hybrid, and parents who signed up for hybrid but now don't want to return to school. I want to reassure everyone--parents, staff and students--that we DO have a plan. Do I have all the answers about what this will look like? No, I do not. However, the staff and I are working on it, and parents WILL have information as it is finalized. There will be an official "Back to School Night 2.0" on Thursday, April 15th from 6:00-7:15 via Zoom. Will I be sending out information sooner than 4/15? Yes, I will. As of this moment, here is what I can tell you for sure. Cohort (Group) A: Monday, Tuesday: Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 1/2 of 6th **, 8th Wednesday: At-home, asynchronous learning for all students Cohort (Group) B: Thursday, Friday: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 1/2 of 6th **, 7th Ocean Shore Start Dates (this is the same as the PSD plan, but I've written it differently) First day for K, 2nd. April 22 - a B day First day for 4th, 1/2 of 6th, 8th ( K and 2 will also attend) April 26- an A day ** The cohorts (groups) for sixth grade will be determined by 3/26. Please reach out to Katy Stearns @ kstearns@pacificasd.org if you have a preference in being part of the A (Monday, Tuesday) or B group (Thursday, Friday) and she will try to accommodate you if possible. She will NOT necessarily be able to accommodate everyone's requests. Special Education Students might have different schedules. Please stay tuned for more details. Arrival and Dismissal Times Kindergarten: 9:00 am-12:00 pm 1-3: 8:50 am -1:00 pm 4-5: 8:40 am -1:00 pm 6-8 8:30am -12:50 pm We are still working on drop off and pick up procedures and locations. Students' temperatures will be taken before they enter campus, and families will be expected to fill out a Google form each morning, as the staff do now, that asks health screening questions. More to follow. Take a deep breath and hang in there. Cheers! Jeanne Shout out of the week: The Ocean Shore Community. We are all a team--families, students, and staff. The next month will be challenging, but we've got this. As Henry Ford points out, we will be successful if we move forward and work together! I'll present for 20-30 minutes, send you off to meet with the teachers, and then host a quick question and answer session from 7:00-7:15. Ocean Shore will be pushing information out to parents much sooner than April 15th through my weekly letter, teacher newsletters and ombuds. However, April 15th will be a time to give the complete overview and have teachers give specific information about what Hybrid learning will look like in their classrooms. ![]()
