Friday, May 21, 2021 Quote of the week: "So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it." -Willie Wonka Dear Ocean Shore Families, This time of year is crazy enough without navigating the end (hopefully) of a pandemic. I'm beyond busy right now with Clara's graduation, out-of-town guests, interviewing for our open teaching positions, finishing the portfolio for my administrative credential program, planning for 8th grade graduation... I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I know I'm not alone in feeling overworked and a little frantic right now. Luckily, my smart phone reminds me to breathe. Speaking of crazy, next Friday, 5/28, is an A day for 4th-8th graders and a B day for 1st-3rd grade. That means we will have 1st, 3rd, 4th, 1/2 of 6th (A's) and 8th graders on campus that day. Kindergarten, second, fifth and seventh graders will be at home. Tuesday, June 1st will be a regular A day. Ugh! I can't wait until we are all back on campus every day. Luckily, it looks like that will be the case in August. Our breath is one of the few things that is (usually) under our control. So...take a deep breath and go with the flow. Be well and enjoy your weekend! Jeanne Shout out of the week: I'm giving one more plug for the Pacifica Education Foundation and for our Ocean Shore Families and staff that have already donated. If you check out PEF's website https://www.pacificaef.org/, you will see that Ocean Shore (12K) and Cabrillo (13K) are neck and neck in terms of total dollars raised. As of 10:00 am today, Ocean Shore is leading (just barely) all of the schools in the number of memberships (33) and the number of donors (55). We can do even better. If you have the means to purchase a $250 membership, that will get PEF closer to its goal of $85,000. However, if $20 is what your budget will allow, please still donate, and we will be grateful for your support. Every person and every dollar counts. School Business Hybrid Instructional Calendar - *May 28th is an A day for 4-8th grade May 28th will be an in-person instructional day for the B group in grades TK-3rd grade and the A group in grades 4-8th grade. Since 4-8th grade began in-person instruction with the B group, there were 3 more in-person instructional days. By taking one of those days and changing it to an A group instructional day, there is only one more in-person instructional day for the B group. 7th grade fundraiser: Come join us at the May 22 Arts & Crafts PopUp from 12-4pm at the Intertwine Cafe. Several of our own 7th grade parents and additional OSS supporters will be selling their arts and crafts, Cristin will be hosting a music class, and P-Town Birrias will be dishing up some amazing food. All vendors that day will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the 7th grade class fund to help send the 7th graders on their 8th grade field trip, have an amazing graduation, and fun skip day. Use the QR code in the flyer to sign up for your music class spot with Cristin. We hope to see you all there! Flier attached.
