Quote of the Week: “Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear Ocean Shore Families,
I love this quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. because I think we need to be reminded that we all have something to contribute to our community. You don't have to teach an Art class, go on an overnight field trip with 50 seventh graders, or create a Bridges Math center. You don't even need to volunteer during school hours. You could make copies, cut out letters for bulletin boards, or weed in the garden on the weekends. Believe me when I say we have something for everyone. Please reach out to Virginia Clement @ firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain a volunteer application. Parents who have completed the process can volunteer as of this week. I'm hoping that field trips will happen come spring, as well as fundraisers, Oceans Week, and our famous end of the year picnic. This has been a rough week for me, personally, and I'm sure I'm not alone. However, things are better than they were at this point last year, and we have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. I plan to roll up my sleeves and serve this community as best I can.
Staffing update: We are still waiting for confirmation regarding our potential school counselor. More information to follow when I have it. Our Daly City YSB counselors started this week. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you feel that your child could benefit from counseling.
