All OSS students, both continuum and Full Year Distance Learning (FYDL) are eligible to participate in the Read-a-Thon. For classroom prizes, the OSS FYDL students will be grouped together by grade level to form 3 “classes”: FYDL K-2, FYDL 3-5, FYDL 6-8
What kind of reading counts?
Any reading counts! Graphic novels, magazines, books, and articles online are all good examples. Students who are not reading independently should include the minutes they are read to by an adult.
Are donations per minute or a flat amount?
Donations will be a flat amount, not a per minute pledge.
What about cash/checks?
Again, we strongly encourage the use of the online donation pages. However, if you receive cash/check, place it in an envelope clearly labeled “Read-a-Thon” with the student and teacher names. Return it to the front office or to your teacher on supply exchange day.
Are donations to Read-a-Thon tax deductible?
Yes! A receipt will be sent to each donor automatically when donating online and will contain our Tax ID#. Teachers will have paper receipts should they be necessary for cash or check donations.
What is the final date to submit my Reading Log and donations?
To qualify for prizes, the Reading Log and donations must be received by November 2, 2020.
Is fundraising required?
No. Fundraising is encouraged, but it is not required to participate.
